San Mateo CWPP Update: Additional "High Priority Project Areas" Needed
The CWPP enables the community to plan how it will reduce the risk of wildfire. The plan identifies strategic sites and methods for fuel reduction projects across the landscape and jurisdictional boundaries. Benefits of having a CWPP include grant funding priority for projects identified in a CWPP. The primary focus of this update is to include additional “High Priority Project Areas” as well as a discussion of our achievements and goals.
Cal Fire requests that cooperators provide the following information prior to November 15th, 2013.
1. A short discussion of those project which were completed or are ongoing between 2010 and present.
a. Include maps
2. A short discussion of new “high priority” project areas, not included in the initial CWPP.
a. Include map, or detailed description of area so Cal Fire can include as a “high priority” in the update.
It is important to note that the CWPP is not a permit to do work so detailed descriptions of projects are not necessary. Cal Fire would prefer a general discussion of a proposed project with a basic map of where the proposed project is.
Example: Cooperator group X has identified a potential fuel reduction project along Road 1, between Avenue 3 and Avenue 4. A shaded fuel break would decrease available fuels, making it safer both ingress and egress. We have identified this as a high priority project area and have shown the proposed project on the attached map.
If Cal Fire needs additional information they will contact the project proponent.
