Chipper Program
The Neighborhood Chipper Program provides no-cost chipping to help San Mateo County residents maintain defensible space: you cut and pile the vegetation, we chip it.
The program is a collaborative effort between FIRE SAFE San Mateo County, the Woodside Fire Protection District, CAL FIRE, the San Mateo Resource Conservation District, the South Skyline Fire Safe Council, volunteer fire departments, and community volunteers, funded through competitive grants and local support including San Mateo County Measure K.
Homeowners cut, gather, and pile vegetation from around their homes at a roadside location, and chipping crews work neighborhood by neighborhood, chipping material back on site or hauling it away.
