SUMMARY
Fire Safe San Mateo County (FSSMC) has received funding from the California Fire Safe Council (CFSC) Clearinghouse Grant. The purpose of this grant is to create a shaded fuel break to reduce the threat of catastrophic wildland fire. See downloadable PDF for further project details.
RESPONSIBILITIES / SCOPE OF WORK
FSSMC will enter into a Professional Services Agreement with selected California Registered Professional Forester (Contractor) who will provide the following activities:
- Develop site-specific management prescriptions (Rx’s) for fuel load reduction activities consistent with the goals and activities summarized below and provided in further detail in the grant agreement.
- Conduct environment review to achieve California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance for fuel reduction activities. CEQA document will be prepared for and filed/approved by CAL FIRE. CEQA compliance may include the need for Archeological and/or Biological surveys.
- Ensure project compliance with all Federal, State, local regulations.
- Conduct any needed preparatory field work prior to project activities. Such activities may include, but are not limited to, marking vegetation, project boundaries, avoidance areas or special treatment areas.
- Provide crew orientation and enough oversight to ensure project specifications are being met. Contractor is not expected to make daily site visits during crew work.
- Provide a map or GPS coordinates indicating where fuel load reduction activities have taken place in accordance with the terms of the grant.
- Provide quarterly summary reports to FSSMC on the status of the project.
